Richard Lee Petty, also known as “the King”, is a legend in the world of stock car racing. He competed in NASCAR for 35 years, from 1958 to 1992, driving the iconic No. 43 car for Petty Enterprises. He won a record 200 races and seven championships, earning him a place in every major racing hall of fame and the title of one of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers of all time. After retiring from racing, Petty continued his passion for cars by transforming Petty Enterprises into Petty’s Garage in 2008. Petty’s Garage is a performance shop that specializes in parts, restorations, and custom builds for car enthusiasts around the world. It is located on the historical site of Petty Enterprises in Level Cross, N.C., where the Petty family first started their racing legacy.
