About This Item
The Warlock, the Power Wagon, and the Li’l Red Express were three “factory-custom” pickups that Dodge launched in 1979 to appeal to young buyers who wanted both speed and style in their rides. The Li’l Red Express was based on the Dodge D150 Utiline pickup and had a 360ci V8 engine. It is a rare and iconic truck and only 5,118 units were built in 1979. They had custom wheels, wide tires, a Utiline bed with wood trim, bench seats, and dual silver chrome exhausts stacks as distinctive features. They also offered comforts like a radio, air conditioning, cruise control, a cargo light, and a clock in the cab. As the name implies, the Li’l Red Express was only available in Medium Canyon Red paint, a slightly different shade than Bright Canyon Red from the previous model year.
This 1:18 scale die-cast from Auto World is a faithful replica of the 1979 Dodge Pickup Li’l Red Express. It has black interior, steerable wheels, a recently tooled 1979 front grille and hood. Its exterior is painted factory-matched Medium Canyon Red with gold decals and filigree, just like the real truck.
